I have been residing with my family for more than 20 years in Villivakkam. This is the one of most comfortable location for lot of the amenities like sufficient water, rail or bus transport, shops, supermarkets, veg markets etc. Infact there are places/shops which is very unique and made most of the people nearby AnnaNagar, Kilpauk,Ayanavaram to shop/visit here. I really miss the Guru Electronics near Bus Stand, Thilagam Supermarket in Sidco Nagar, Reliance Fresh etc.
Recently, I have decided to migrate from Villivakkam and chose the next best place as Anna Nagar. The main reason we decided to shift is due to water scarcity in Sidco Nagar due to insufficient rain. After couple of weeks once we shifted our home, the Monsoon has created a upside down of the situation throughout the city filling with enough water. Due to heavy rain, the Korattur Lake has been opened as it was overflowing which diverted the water towards villivakkam. This has made the entire sidco nagar to sink for 3-4 days without EB and other facilities. Couple of days back i had a chance to take a look of the place and noticed there are few counters opened to serve the victims affected by the rain. Also, there are mobile vans moving across to spread the awareness of the epidemic disease and providing basic amenities to the needy people. I appreciate the counsellors and other staffs who have arranged these facilities.
I spoke to my neighbours at villivakkam and heard that the water overflowed and reached inside the homes and also suffered without power for more than 4 days. This is the first time this happened in this place and no one expected this much of damage from this monsoon. And today the Rain again started showing its voracious face towards Chennai. In Anna Nagar the water is getting drained but with a slow speed. My family saying thanks to the almighty as we have saved from the rain hit at right time by migrating from that place.
Will share more in the upcoming post about my new place
