Recently I have registered for he azure free trail account and I have been evaluating some of the features. In one of our project we had 2 web interfaces. One for the public site and one for the admin control panel. Initially we thought of hosting them in 2 separate web roles and hosted he same on free trial account.
As you know the free trial account was limited to just 750 hours per month irrespective of how many hosted services or roles you are running. This means the 750 hours are calculated the sum of each instance running on our account. After few days I got his email from Microsoft.
“Your 3-Month Free Trial subscription has been disabled and will be deprovisioned in 90 day(s) to prevent charges to your credit card. ”
So I decided to be careful in using the free usage in the right way. 750 hours is more than enough for hosting a single webrole. But for running more than 1 website it’s better to go with multiple websites in 1 web role using the virtual directory similar to traditional IIS model. When things are woks good and you have completely evaluate you can go with he pay as you go model.
Make use of the free trial account and play with the various features before going to production.
In the Next Post I will show you how to deploy multiple websites under single webrole. I will also talk on how to do quick deploy on these multiple websites.
Keep Tuned in.
